Overview

Since 2020, the production of mercury vapor lamps has been banned, and the transition to LED lighting for public spaces has started. Maintenance on light fixtures and bulbs used to be done every twice a year, but LED bulbs are usually changed every 10 years, and thus facilities are looking ways to have maintenance done at the same time. Many school gyms use single nuts and have had cases where light fixture come loose over time and because of the differences between daytime and night time temperatures, which causes the metal to expand and contract. School gyms are often used as evacuation center as well, so maintenance and inspections are crucial to mitigate possible disasters. To give students, teachers, and people safety and peace of mind, the Hardlock Nuts are adapted, trusted by their 50 years in loosening prevention.

Problem

Single nut & spring washer to hang fluorescent lamps

  • Light fixtures installed in high celling public areas must respect certain safety standards, requiring frequent inspections.
  • Replacement of mercury vapor lamps and changing of nuts and washers had to be performed twice a year.
  • Workers were put at risk of falling during labor. Scaffold setup and scissor lift could be dangerous and consuming.

Solution

HARDLOCK NUTS to hang LED lamps

  • The transition to LED has extended the bulb replacement cycle to 10 years. Hardlock Nuts, acting as a proven loosening and fall prevention, allow light fixture maintenance cycle to also be extended so replacement and maintenance jobs can be synced.
  • Huge reduction in labor costs by 95%, and less risks of worker related injuries.
